Traffic
Control Person (TCP)
TCP's
continue to require training acceptable to WorkSafe BC Standards
and possess written proof of that training. Roadmasters Safety Group
offers a 2 day Worksafe BC approved course once per month. Please
refer to the course calendar for dates and locations. Upon successful
completion TCP's will be certified under the BC Construction Safety
Network for 3 years.

Low/Moderate Risk Traffic
Control Fundamentals
This one day course is designed to provide the appropriate education
and training required for Low and Moderate Risk Traffic Control
Person ONLY as defined by WorkSafeBC's Occupational Health
and Safety Regulation and in accordance with its guidelines.
This course is not intended for the instruction of High Risk Traffic
Control Persons. It remains the responsibility of each individual
employer to determine the level of risk associated with their employer's
duties and the level of training provided for their work processes.
Example
of guidelines for the Application of this training...
-
Stopping traffic intermittently to facilitate construction or
maintenance traffic: such as trucks and other equipment entering
and exiting the job site, flying tables, concrete and other material
over a roadway by crane, loading and off loading material for
a job site.
- Single
lane alternating traffic where traffic volumes are low (less than
1000 vehicles per day), there is a minimum site distance of 100m
for approaching traffic, inclement weather and road conditions
do no cause any undue risk (such as ice or snow covered roads)
and where the speed limit does not exceed 80km per hour.

Exposure time is limited to 30 minute intervals, with a total
daily maximum exposure of 2 hours.
The
Low to Moderate Risk Traffic Control Person Fundamental Course is
a one day classroom and hands on practical course that meets the
high standards of WorkSafeBC. 3 Year certificate of training.
